Hello 7/8 Families! I am pleased to be joining the staff and community of LCHS 7/8 this year. I grew up here in town with my parents and 5 sisters. I attended LCE for elementary school and graduated from LCHS , one year behind our other 7/8 counselor, Allison Dalbeck.
For college I attended UC Santa Barbara and earned my Bachelors Degree in Psychology. After a year or so of working and enjoying all that Santa Barbara has to offer, I moved to San Diego to attend graduate school at the University of San Diego. There I recieved my Masters Degree in Counseling, and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. I spent three years working for San Diego Unified School District as the counselor at Johnson Elementary School. I have moved back to the La Canada area, as I have a new baby (daughter Melinda) who needs to be close to her grandparents! Also, my husband is working on his graduate degree at a nearby school.
I love the counseling profession because we get to play a very unique role in a student’s educational and social experience. I think counselors are especially important at the middle school level, where children begin to form a strong self-identity. I hope to be an important resource for students as they navigate through the ups and downs of young adolescence.
